Hardware and Networks Evidence

I have been learning how to do many different things within this module, such as data representation, the subsystems of computer systems, logic gates and logic circuits and the components of a computer system. This is an area of my course that requires some improvement. Below is a snippet of some basic data representation.

Project 1 Evidence

This is some evidence for my project 1 module. For this I am required to work in a group with 6 other people. We are working together in order to design, implement and test an android application. We all have our own specific tasks to complete. Below is a snippet from a flow chart that I have created that describes how the user will use this application.

This is a part of the design phase that I have personally contributed to the team project.

Using Internet Explorer

I am able to use Internet Explorer to a good level. I am able to use multiple tabs as well as separate windows. I also understand how to change your preferences and security settings. Below are a few snippets for this.

Using Windows 7

I am able to use windows 7 to a basic level. I am able to install any required software as well as manage it. I can also find any applications or files that I require. I am also able to customize the user interface to a setting that suits me. Below are a few screen shots of some of windows 7 from my own personal computer, which also shows how I have customized it.

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Evidence

I am able to create a basic PowerPoint presentation. I am able to do such things as insert images, new slides, format the background and customize the animation. Below is a snippet of a basic presentation.

Microsoft Office Excel 2007 Evidence

I am able to do a few things within this, including equations and graphs. I am able to do these things to help me create more complex spreadsheets. Below is a snippet that shows a very basic spreadsheet along with a graph representing the data.

Microsoft Office Word 2007 Evidence

I am able to do a basic variety of functions within  2007. I am able to write in paragraphs as well as use punctuation marks. I can also insert images and edit them within the software. Below is a screen shot from my log book for my module Software Design - Programming. This shows how I have written a document that consists of both text and images that are in relation to each other.

Here is another piece of work from an evaluation that I have done for my studio 1 module. This shows my basic abilities to write in paragraphs with the correct punctuation.

File Handling Windows 7

I find that file handling within Windows 7 is an easy task to do. Below are a couple of screen shots of some of the file lists that I use on a regular basic when I am using Windows 7.

I find it easy to find such things as I am able to find a variety of different files from documents to system files.

File Handling in Linux

I find the file handling quite easy to do in Linux as there isn't much difference from doing this in windows. Below are some screen shots of some basic files within Linux.

Programming and BlueJ Evidence

This is the evidence for my programming module and BlueJ software. I can do some coding to a basic level, and one of the things that I had to do was to edit some of the code for a pre made program called "picture", so that the sun on the picture would do an automatic sunset. This needed to be made so that it would happen when the method "draw". Below is a snippet of the code I implemented to make this happen.

The particular piece of code is "sun.slowMoveVertical(250);. This code made it so that when the sun was drawn it would then move downwards.

Another piece of evidence was for the tutorial within week 3, where we were given an image with some coding in which we had to rearrange so that it would work. Below is a snippet with this image and the code rearranged.

Computing Science Evidence

This is the evidence for my Computing Science and Mathematics module. For this module I have been learning how to do many different subjects such as sequences and sets. One of the main things that I have been doing are finite state machines. Below is an example of a finite state machine. There is the question and the answer that I drew for it.

The question that will be used for this evidence will be question 2, part b.

Modelling and Eclipse Evidence

This is a piece of evidence that is relevant to my modelling module and the program eclipse. Below is a screen shot of a sequence and use case diagram that I made in my tutorials.

I find this an easy area of my course as I have previously done this area in my college course. I find it easy to understand class diagrams, sequence diagrams, use case diagrams, activity diagrams and more.

Studio 1 Unix Commands Evidence

Unfortunatly in this area of my studio 1 module, I know very little about preforming unix commands. Below is a screenshot of a very basic command for unix.

This is a very basic command that freezes the system and then unfreezes it. This is a section of my course that I requires alot of improvement.

Evidence of Using Linux

I have not been using this operating system for a long time but it is the one that is used for my Modelling module. Below is a few screenshots of the system and me using and finding a few of it's functions.

This is a shot of the applications drop down menu. This allows me to access the software that has been installed onto the system, such as programming software, games, office word processing applications, etc.

This is the drop down menu that allows me to access the files on the computer, as well as search for them as well.

This is the drop down menu that allows me to change my personal prefrences on the system.

I am able to use all of these in order to be able to do my programming, using the internet, word processing and more. I find this system fairly easy to use

Studio 1 Evidence, Virtual Erewhon

One of the main areas of my Studio 1 course was to create a website designed to promote a utopian town and all of it's features. For this we had to work in a group. I worked in a group of four people. We all provided our fair share and made sure that we looked out for everyone else and make sure that all of the work was correct. Below is a screenshot of the homepage of the website in dreamweaver.

When this was completed it was tested in three web browsers, internet explorer, google chrome and mozilla firefox. Below is a screenshot of how this site looked within firefox.

This website was a team effort and we all provided enough information each to create this site. After we had done this I then had to create an individual evaluation about how I worked within a group to create this website. I also had to evaluate my personal performance and state what I would have changed for next time. I also did a peer assessment for this. Below is a screenshot of my final evaluation for this section.

Evidence of all my modules - Information

In my e-Portfolio I am required to show evidence of all my modules. I will be providing this nearer my deadline for my first cycle of PDP as I will then be able to provide more evidence of what work I have been doing at that time. I will do this the same way for every cycle of PDP.

Microsoft Office Publisher Evidence

I am currently working on my PDP and I am required to show some evidence about how I use Microsoft Publisher. Below are a few screen shots of a Publisher document I made for my little sister that tells her how to use the software's iTunes and Skype. These show some of the basic skills I am currently able to preform.

As you are able to see from the above screen shot, I am able to do the basics such as adding title boxes, text boxes, inserting images, clip arts and designing the layout. As these are the very basics, I aim to improve these throughout my time at university.

My PDP First Cycle Evidence

All post entries after this post are for my first cycle of PDP development. When I have completed my first cycle, I will place a new post on stating that it is complete, and then I shall place another stating when the second cycle of evidence will start.

My Personal Development Planning (PDP)

This is my blog that I will be using in order to show evidence of my work for my Personal Development Planning (PDP). PDP is the process of evaluating your skills and then creating an action plan in order to show how you are going to improve these skills, if there is any need for improvement. This will take place for the 3 years that I am studying at university. I will add posts with snippets of my work.
